Härtel Quintett

Five musicians, three siblings, two friends and 34 instruments. Numbers upon numbers adding up to make one whole. When the Härtel quintet gets together it is always for the adventure of making music. Influenced by their folk music background, a classical music education and a curiosity for musical dialects from all over the world, they conjure beautiful sounds from the abundance of instruments at their disposal. Their songs are packed full of ideas, harmony and spirit and make you want to put on your dancing shoes and join in. You just can’t help grooving with their musical mixture of polka, waltz, Dudler and Boarischer from Vienna and Styria. The Härtel quintet performs original songs as well as improvised material that envelopes listeners in wild, rhythmic and dense walls of sound.

Schallwellen-Orchester

One thing is clear: when the participants of the Schallwellen music workshop come together, the lake in Lunz is anything but a still water. They yodel, fiddle and practice on the lakeshore from early in the morning until late in the evening. By the end of the week, they have put together a program that is well worth listening to. The goal of this workshop is to create a common repertoire for all the participants. This means that everyone learns the same pieces in their respective registers, and at the end everything is put together to form orchestral arrangements. All of this is done by heart and without sheet music. In this way, the composed melodies are committed to participants’ memory and can continue dancing in their minds throughout the year.
