Every year at our See.Rund.Gang (a walk around the lake), we invite bright minds from the worlds of art, politics and science to philosophize with us. On this stroll along the shore, we raise questions and search for answers. Musical intermezzos juxtapose the intellectual input, inspiring us all to let our thoughts roam across the landscape and our horizons broaden.
Marlen Mairhofer
Dr Marlen Mairhofer was born in Upper Austria in 1991 and has been writing, researching and working in culture since her German Language and Literature studies. She has been artistic director of the Leseze!chen literature festival in Waidhofen an der Ybbs. Her debut novel “Alice”, a coming-of-age story, will be published in autumn 2026 by Jung und Jung. In addition to girls and women, her interests lie in questions of exchange and community and in how to write good books when you don’t actually enjoy telling stories.
Anja Obermayer & Mario Rom
The duo Obermyer/Rom connects two quite different characters from the Austrian jazz and improvised music scene. Singer Anja Obermeyer and trumpet player Mario Rom have been collaborating on a highly focussed format since 2024. Voice and trumpet are treated as equivalent means of narration. The dialogue between composed structures and free improvisation takes centre stage in their music; speech, timbre, and silence join in. Obermayer’s voice moves effortlessly between extended vocal techniques and narrative pop songs, while Rom uses his trumpet as both a lyrical and an experimental instrument. Together, they create open musical spaces in which art pop, contemporary jazz, and improvised music intertwine organically.
