Noura Maan was born in Vienna in 1989 and studied history at the University of Vienna. She is editor-in-chief and a member of the foreign policy department at the “STANDARD”. Her journalistic work focusses on the Middle East, US politics, and gender equality issues, and she regularly comments on current international developments. In 2023, she and Beate Hausbichler published the anthology “Geradegerückt – Vorverurteilt, skandalisiert, verleumdet: Wie die Biografien prominenter Frauen verzerrt werden” (Straightened Out – Prejudged, Scandalised, Slandered: How the Biographies of Prominent Women Are Distorted) with the publisher Kremayr & Scheriau. The book examines how media and social narratives shape the public perception of women.
