David Helbock is a cornerstone of the Austrian Jazz scene and reaches an international audience with his projects. His virtuosity and creativity have earned him numerous awards, such as prizes at the Jazz Piano Solo Competition in Montreux (CH) as well as the Outstanding Artist Award of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Culture. For his most recent project, he collaborates with the versatile bass player and cellist Julia Hofer from Vienna who had made a name predominately in the pop scene. Apart from her presence on YouTube where the videos she made for Thomann music store reach millions of bass enthusiasts, she now turns to Jazz together with David Helbock. They released their joint album on the renowned label ACT music last autumn. For this evening concert, the duo teams up with Austro-Iranian guitarist Mahan Mirarab. With his double-neck guitar, he blends Iranian tradition with the freedom of Jazz and creates sound spheres that make stories of migration, remembrance, and identity audible.
